my new table

I had this table sitting in the corner for a year now. It holds my laptop and it was UGLY. Since I've been on a decorating kick lately, I decided to paint it yesterday.

After a couple of coats of my favorite muted turquoise blue:

I adore it now. You can see the new curtains I'm making for the front windows in the back. I'll take pics when I'm done. I love them as well.

overheard...

I gave Graedon a box of Pop Tarts and told him to go outside and share. As he was running out the door, I said "Don't eat the whole box."

He stopped, turned around and gave me a quizzical look and then said "Why would I eat the box? I won't eat the box." Then he ran off.

scheduling

I've never been a strict scheduler. Sure our day would follow a loose schedule of mealtimes, snack times as well as naptimes but nothing written down.

Well now I'm rethinking that a little and only as it pertains to school. Our whiteboard listed which subjects we would be studying that day but not like "from 8:00 am - 8:30 am - Science". I'm still not sure I want to do it that way as I like the flexibility in going longer or shorter depending on what we're studying that day. If I went over, I would be stressing that I was going over schedule.

However, I feel disorganized during the school morning and need something.

The subjects we are currently studying are as follows:

Math
Math drills
Classical Music
Drawing/ History of Art
World History - currently Middle Ages
Student writing: Middle Ages
Vocab/Spelling
Science - Maddie & Ava: Botany, Lauren: General Science
Bible Study: Proverbs
Memory Verses
Read out loud: 50 Famous Stories as well as Trial & Triumph: Stories from Church History
Piano lessons: Thursday
Practice piano: 30 mins daily

Lauren has as well:
Logic
More writing
Latin (to be added)

Then Ellie:
Math
Reading/writing

Grae:
Numbers/Shapes

Wow. That is quite the list. We don't do every subject everday so see why I need a schedule! I guess I just need to sit down and work it through. Not my favorite thing. If I do manage it, I'll post it here.

a job

Brian is at his second day of work at his new job. This is a great stable company, excellent benefits, vacation days, 401K, great salary (making what he was making at his old job), an iphone (!), nice people... but (there's always a but) it is 45 minutes away. That is the only major downside. However, praise God Brian has a job! Bye, bye unemployment!

After 6 months of team parenting, I'm on my own. I had forgotten how hard it was to be home all day with EVERYONE. Any needs, wants or complaints come to me again. It was way to easy say "go see your Dad" and problem solved. Molly wandered around all day yelling "Daaadyyyy...." and banging on the office door. So it's a small adjustment but worth it.

Since I'm on my big workout/wii fit/lose-the-baby-weight-already kick, I have to get up at 6 am (yes, 6 AM!) to go for a walk or workout before Brian leaves at 7 am. I am NOT a morning person in the least but it is nice to have it so quiet around here and the morning air is so nice. I have lost 2.2 lbs since last week according to my "trainer" on the wii fit. I'm really enjoying it.

Well Lauren just pulled the muffins out of the oven for breakfast so while the kids are occupied eating I need to go print some clothing labels for some orders we received through http://www.misslabel.com
