I'm over the creamy walls in our downtstairs bathroom and want to do something dramatic. I'm thinking of painting above the wainscotting a charcoal black but then I saw this picture and now maybe I'll paint the lower half black?

It would match our floors which have black tile in them.
I don't know, it's not like I don't have other projects to think about around here. :)

I love the lower-half black idea, I think it ties the walls and floor together really well.
I love the top painted black. I'd hesitate to paint the bottom black, cause (I'm guessing) you'll probably be tired of black in a couple of years and it will be easier to repaint the top again! Also, you don't have to worry about the black paint chipping and showing white wood underneath.
I like the upper half idea - let us know what you decided, ok?
I just re-found your blog and I'm in love with your house! Can I move in? I love how you add touches of turquoise to everything. Turquoise is my obsession.
