Maybe if I had enough money to purchase furniture that is beautiful I wouldn't have to fix it up, but really, what is the fun in that?

Here is the chair we bought at a garage sale for $7.50. It's actually one of a pair that the owner's uncle made in the 1970's. They are really sturdy and comfortable. Unfortunately they had really ugly fabric in really poor shape. I was going to reupholster it but at the rate our furniture gets dirty it would be a lost cause. So slipcovering was my only option.
Here it is after the slipcover. The fabric is by Premier Prints and the gray trim is twill. I wanted the gray trim so it didn't look too cutesy. If you look to your left you will see my slipcovered tv. :)

Now I'm in the process of slipcovering the rocking swivel chair we bought at the same garage sale. I have the pattern cut and the cushion done as you can see. It will be in a blue ticking stripe.

I am so glad you said that about slip covers. I can sew a storm (and recover furniture) but really dislike slipcovers. I have a couch and chair to do and I am procrastinating.
You did a great joba nd love the piping choice. I also love you tv slip cover. What a great idea to keep dust off.
I am so impressed! I love your colors in your home. You have a great eye for patterns and design. I am now a follower!
Hi! Just found your through DIY Showoff and just have to tell you how much fun I am having looking at all of your great home decor projects! Those shelves are fabulous and I love that shelf liner you found at Home Depot so much that I am going to shamelessly copy you and use it on some shelves I have! :-) I also can relate on the sewing front because whenever I have to make pillows with fringe it makes me want to use some choice words! So fun to find your blog here and sorry about the book of a comment I just wrote! :-)

I am in the same boat --- hate sewing slipcovers but can't buy nice furniture. I always seem to find really neat trash picked chairs, too. Unfortunately, my slipcovers look amateur. Yours are beautiful! Can't wait to see how the ticking stripe turns out!
Your chair looks fabulous. I wish I had an ounce of your talent. Love, love, love that slipcovered TV~
